Today was a busy day for me, so I apologize for the sporatic and incompete updates. I hope to make Tuesday a better presentation.

The economic calander is light this day, so I’ll focus on sending you to some unemployment charts from some excellent financial sites listed below. There’s no sense in me recreating the work of others, so here you go:

– WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama promised Monday to deliver more than 600,000 jobs through his $787 billion stimulus plan this summer, with federal agencies pumping billions into public works projects, schools and summer youth programs.

Obama is ramping up his stimulus program this week even as his advisers are ramping down expectations about when the spending plan will effect a continuing rise in the nation’s unemployment.

– IRONTON — Huge budget cuts resulting from shrinking revenue has forced the Briggs Lawrence County Public Library system to layoff 10 workers and trim operating hours at its five branches by nearly 15 percent.

-More economic hardship news to report in the Flathead — Columbia Falls Aluminum Factory says they are shutting their doors. The closure will happen at the end of July, and 90 employees will be out of work.

The aluminum company says they have been expecting the closure, but hoping that it wouldn’t come down to that.

– SOMERSWORTH, N.H. — Ninety-one people soon will be out of work in Somersworth, N.H., as Trelleborg Sealing Solutions closes its plant in the city.

electrolux– WEBSTER CITY, Iowa – Electrolux is laying off about 150 more workers at its Webster City laundry plant as the company moves some of its washer and dryer production to Mexico.

ldv– Birmingham van maker LDV entered administration on Monday after a rescue bid collapsed and the government refused requests for emergency aid.

Around 4,000 job losses are expected as a result, 850 at LDV and another 3,000 at dealers and suppliers.

– Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said earlier this year that the Department of Defense (DoD) must be able to train 200 cyber security experts, up from 80 now. How about the whole U.S. government?

There’s a clear need in agencies as diverse as energy, aviation, and, of course, defense.
