I haven’t had time to update The Layoff List in a couple of weeks due to posting of unemployment extension updates at my Examiner.com site. If you are looking to stay informed about unemployment extensions, please visit Rochester Unemployment Examiner.

Once you visit Rochester Unemployment Examiner you can review unemployment information, data and details that you don’t find in the main stream media. You can also add comments about your current situation and what you think needs ot be done to improve the job market and unemployment benefits system. I hope to see you there.

I’ll be returning to posting on The Layoff List at some point in the future.

I wrote to All Gov’t officials we are a one income family and me as the wife (stay at home and out of work for for 10 yrs now to raise our children as he had a good paying job allowing me to do this as one of our daughter had LD. So I have gone out and appied @ Dominios /Taco Bell every Supermarket in the area and beyond saying I would work any shift hrs and double if needed! ANYTHING! Not ONE CALL BACK! There are no jobs! I was an A/R clerk back in 1999 and nothing in that area. So went for these jobs to bring anything in! And I have been looking since he got layed of in NOV. 2008! And not one call back from these may I say shit jobs? But will do whatever I can to feed my kids and pay my bills! They do not want to hire people who are 40 and have kids as then they have to pay us benefits if full time and they would rather pay irresponsible teenagers instead!

I’ve been submitting my resume to agencies as well as applying to them but without references they tell me they can’t help me. If my references come up short because they no longer work with the company then what am I to do? They have taken from me an authorization form signed by me to contact my creditors as well as a background check and they can’t assist me if I don’t have references. There are a lot of agencies that are doing a disservice to those who want to work. We are living in such difficult times that they need not be so stringent especially when we can prove that we are hard working Americans with experience in the work force. I can’t help but think that an immigrant has a better chance of getting a job without the references. Now that I have exhausted my benefits I am hoping that they extend them because I still don’t have a job and not for lack of trying.
