It has been very demeaning and discouraging to hear that our own Congressmen think so little of the long-termed unemployed! My situation started when I stared working for a jobber in Elk Grove Village,Illinois. We had been warned Xmas of 2008 that if more customers did not materialize next year, there would be a layoff. No customers and the layoff happened at the end of January,2009.I immediately applied for unemployment benefits( which,at times for other benefits, was too much even though little) and set out to look for jobs.Today which is June 27,2011,I have had only 2 good prospects and they didn't even hire me and at my age of 61,I don't have a clue how I will exist.I do have support of my family that is left, but how long will that be.I wiil be applying for Social Security but Iam not sure if I will get it!This whole thing about allowing our jobs to go overseas gets me,but in the immediate future I hope somebody reeducates the Congressmen that we are not losers but winners and help get us back to work!!!!!
